Product Details

A breathtaking 1936 Germaine Monteil Couture navy crepe gown which was also worn by Anne Nagel in the Warner Brothers film "The Hockey King". In 1938, Monteil won a Neiman Marcus Fashion Award in recognition of her influence upon the fashion industry. This gorgeous Old Hollywood garment is a true example of her genius. The bodice has a high neck-tie that flows into voluminous sheer billow sleeves. I love the curved lines of the backless illusion. The piece work to create the skirting in particular is extraordinary. It is amazing that a dress with this amount of detail and presence can literally feel almost weightless but it does. An important piece of film and fashion history.

Measurements

This Germaine Monteil movie worn documented gown is in excellent condition with no stains or discoloration. Perfectly working original side metal-hooks in place. The workmanship is immaculate and all hand-finished. Only sign of wear is a some minor pea-sized holes to a few areas of sheer illusion which are not noticeable when worn. Please message for detailed pictures. A true Old Hollywood designer investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
